'The Voice' recap: And the Top 5 finalists are…

Live elimination episodes are always full of tension, and The Voice was no different. With only five available spots for next week’s Finals, Tuesday’s installment ramped up the drama as it gradually revealed — over the course of the hour — the lucky Voice finalists advancing to the last round.

One coach’s team stayed intact (Team Bublé), while another was on the precipice of being eliminated altogether (Team Reba).

Adding to the drama was the “instant save,” where America had five minutes (yes, only five!) to vote for one of the four singers who received the fewest votes following Monday's episode.

In possibly their last time on The Voice stage, the four singers sang for their lives in hopes of snagging that coveted final spot.

The rest of the episode featured performances by Reba McEntire, who sang “Consider Me Gone”; Gwen Stefani, who performed “Somebody Else’s” from her latest album Bouquet; and Grammy-nominated singer October London, who soulfully crooned his new single “3rd Shift.”

Find out who America voted into the Finals and which singer earned the final spot through the “instant save.”

And who earned the last spot through the “instant save”?

Before America saved Joseph from elimination, McEntire was the only coach who didn’t have a singer advancing to the Finals. Turns out, Joseph’s raucous rock cover of “House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals swayed viewers enough to push him through to the Top 5, over Christina Eagle (Team Snoop), Adam Bohanan (Team Reba) and Jan Dan (Team Gwen).

Moments before, the Dallas-based Brit, who’s been open about his journey with Crohn’s disease, thanked McEntire for giving him the confidence to perform just months after surgery. “The world would’ve been so deprived without you onstage,” a teary McEntire said.

A look ahead to next week

The finalists are set! The pressure is on as all four coaches will be represented heading into the Finals: Sofronio Vasquez and Shye (Team Bublé), Sydney Sterlace (Team Gwen), Jeremy Beloate (Team Snoop) and Danny Joseph (Team Reba).

Next Monday’s penultimate episode will be jam-packed with performances. Not only will the Top 5 take the stage, but expect a holiday duet by coach Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce, who served as his Playoff adviser, and a return to The Voice by Season 24 winner Huntley. Snoop Dogg’s partner-in-crime, Martha Stewart, will also make a special appearance.

The Voice airs Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
