The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis "for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit."

The research provided insights into quantum mechanics on a new scale. This is the 119th Nobel physics prize. The prestigious award, which comes with a cash prize of 11 million Swedish kronor ($1.2 million), was announced on Monday (Oct. 6) by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.
