October is here and Wednesday brought four elimination games in the League Division Series of the 2025 MLB playoffs. The 12-team postseason bracket has been trimmed down to seven, with the New York Yankees becoming the first team to be eliminated from the divisional round with a 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. Toronto will now meet the winner of the Tigers-Mariners series in the ALCS.
The Tigers fell into an early hole against the Mariners on Wednesday, but pulled out a solid win to tie the series and force a do-or-die Game 5 on Friday in Seattle. Riley Greene, Javier Báez and Gleyber Torres all contributed home runs on the way to a 9-3 win. The Cubs, on the other hand, took the lead over the Brewers in the bottom of the first and never looked back, staving off elimination with a 4-3 victory.
Out on the West Coast, the Philadelphia Phillies are looking to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 at Dodger Stadium.

The Brewers, Blue Jays, Phillies and Mariners all earned first-round byes this season, but the Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers and Tigers all needed to win Wild Card Series to get here. The Dodgers completed a two-game sweep of the Reds, while the Cubs, Yankees and Tigers all needed three games to advance and knock out the Padres, Red Sox and Guardians, respectively.
The best-of-five League Division Series could run through Oct. 11 and the 2025 World Series begins on Oct. 24. Below is a look at the full 2025 MLB playoff bracket.
