October is here, and the defending World Series champs are moving on. The Los Angeles Dodgers are moving on to the NLCS for the second year in a row after ousting the Philadelphia Phillies in four games. The Dodgers won in 11 innings in Thursday's Game 4, scoring the winning run on Orion Kerkering's throwing error with two outs and the bases loaded.
The Cubs, meanwhile, are trying to stay alive against the top-seeded Brewers. Chicago is hosting Game 4 at Wrigley Field on Thursday night.

In the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays are advancing, while the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers will need five games to decide their ALDS bout. The Jays knocked the pennant-holding Yankees out of the playoffs on Wednesday, winning Game 4 at Yankee Stadium. The Jays will host ALCS Game 1 on Sunday.
Their opponent will be decided Friday night after the Tigers stayed alive with a Game 4 win on Wednesday. They'll give the ball to ace Tarik Skubal on Friday, while the Mariners will hope to beat Skubal for a second time in the series and advance to their first ALCS since 2001.
The Brewers, Blue Jays, Phillies and Mariners all earned first-round byes this season, but the Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers and Tigers all needed to win Wild Card Series to get here. The Dodgers completed a two-game sweep of the Reds, while the Cubs, Yankees and Tigers all needed three games to advance and knock out the Padres, Red Sox and Guardians, respectively.
