Netflix have secured an exclusive U.S. rights deal for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The streaming service has struck a deal with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women's World Cups.

This is the first time that Netflix have acquired rights to full sporting tournament, and they have promised U.S fans "immersive coverage" and "unparalleled access" to the women's football event.

Netflix have also announced that they will be curating an exclusive documentary series ahead of both tournaments, spotlighting some of the biggest names in women's football.

“Bringing this iconic tournament to Netflix isn’t just about streaming matches, it’s also about celebrating the players, the culture and the passion driving the global rise of women’s sport," Netflix Chief content officer Bela Bajaria said.

FIFA have described the new deal as one that “further reinforces the tournament’s status as the single biggest women’s sporting event on the planet and provides an outstanding platform to further promote the game.”

The streaming service will include Puerto Rico, and will offer live coverage of each game in both English and Spanish.

The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup will be staged between June 24-July 25, with Brazil the confirmed hosts of the 32-nation tournament.
