Transporting wind turbine components is difficult enough, but putting them all together is a different matter entirely. Then there is the assembly process, which requires specialized machinery. And that’s where the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 comes in!

Featuring a 9-axle chassis, a Y-guying system designed for increased lifting capacities, as well as the world’s longest telescopic boom (328 feet or 100 meters), the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 is one of the most impressive pieces of construction machinery ever created.

Lattice boom cranes are good at a lot of things, but less so at assembling wind turbines in difficult terrain. The Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 was designed with this task in mind. It features all-terrain driving capabilities with active, speed-dependent rear-axle steering for enhanced maneuverability, and a total weight of 1,323 tons, which allows it to lift massive weights of up to 1,200 tons without requiring significant counterweights.

Despite its massive weight, the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 can reach speeds of up to 75 km/h (47mph), allowing it to cover long distances relatively easily.
