Designed by Alan Schilke and built by Utah-based company S&S Worldwide, Dinoconda was unveiled in 2012 as China’s first 4D rollercoaster. As the train travels across the 3,500 feet of track, at speeds of up to 78 km/h (48 mph), it pulls up to five Gs, and also hurls riders upside-down in a zero-G roll. But that’s not what makes it infamously scary.
One of just a handful of 4D rollercoasters around the world, Dinoconda features seats that rotate independently of the track, making it impossible to predict which way you’ll be hurled or rolled as the train makes its way around the track at blinding speeds.
A YouTube POV video by The Coaster Scoop offers a pretty clear picture of what you can expect while riding Dinoconda, and while it takes a bit to get going, it will probably leave a knot in your stomach by the end. I know it did for me!
Because no ride on this 4D rollercoaster is quite the same, it can be more than a little intimidating even for diehard coaster fans. However, if you’re looking for a truly extreme rollercoaster experience, Dinoconda is apparently a must-try!
