A Krasnoyarsk woman who underwent a single session of acupuncture to deal with the pain in her leg found herself in an even worse state after it. After seeing a so-called acupuncture expert in her home city, she went from experiencing pain to being unable to walk, which prompted her to go to the hospital.

An X-ray revealed at least ten needle fragments lodged in the patient’s leg, which were causing the excruciating pain. It’s unclear how so many acupuncture needles broke in the woman’s leg after a single session, especially when handled by an “expert”.

The Siberian woman told doctors that she had consulted a well-known acupuncturist in Krasnoyarsk because of her leg pain. However, after the first session, her condition worsened: the pain intensified to the point that she could no longer put any weight on her foot.

For now, the woman has been prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications, but doctors warned her that if her condition doesn’t improve, she will require major surgery on her foot, as the small needle fragments might prove very difficult to remove.

This unfortunate case has been published as a warning for the general public to make sure that they seek assistance from certified acupuncture practitioners in order to avoid such debilitating complications.
