Sabrina Carpenter is officially back to reclaim her title as songstress of the summer. A week after releasing her single “Manchild,” Carpenter has announced her new album, Man’s Best Friend, out Aug. 29.
“My new album, ‘Man’s Best Friend’ ????is out on August 29, 2025,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram Wednesday. “i can’t wait for it to be yours x”
Carpenter’s new single “Manchild” offers a biting critique of immature men. The cheeky track debuted at No. 1 on the Global Spotify chart, with 8.05 million streams, setting the record for the biggest streaming debut of the year for a female artist.

“It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram of the single.
The Grammy winner, who was an early song of summer contender in 2024 with her smash hit “Espresso,” teased the forthcoming album in an Instagram Live on Wednesday, as she sifted through a stack of vinyl records by Donna Summer, ABBA and Dolly Parton, before eventually landing on her own. Carpenter puts Man’s Best Friend on her turntable, unveiling the already viral cover art.
On the album cover, Carpenter is on her knees in a black dress and heels while an unidentified man in a black suit pulls her hair. Some fans have already voiced disappointment in Carpenter’s cover choice, noting that while she’ll likely be “subverting traditional gender roles” on Man’s Best Friend, the cover doesn’t seem to align with her values. Others, however, have come to the singer’s defense, calling out fans who’ve branded the album cover as anti-feminist.
Man’s Best Friend will mark Carpenter’s seventh studio album. Its release comes nearly a year after the singer’s critically and commercially acclaimed sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, made its global debut. Featuring her lead single “Espresso,” as well as “Please Please Please,” “Taste” and “Bed Chem,” Short n’ Sweet catapulted the Pennsylvania-born singer to a new level of fame. The album and its singles earned Carpenter her first six Grammy nominations. She ultimately took home the honors for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso” at the 2025 awards show.

In a letter to her fans, Carpenter revealed that she hadn’t planned to release another album so soon after Short n’ Sweet.
While Carpenter cautioned that a quick album turnaround won’t necessarily “be the norm” going forward, she was compelled to put something out “when it feels right.” With Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter drew inspiration from artists like Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton and Donna Summer.
“I felt so at ease making Man’s Best Friend that i felt like it was a gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, different from my previous projects where I’d bang my head to crack numerous codes. This one felt like riding a bike!” she wrote.
The 26-year-old pop star recently performed at Primavera Sound Barcelona. Next up, she’s set to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago and British Summer Time Hyde Park in London, before she continues her “Short n’ Sweet” tour in October.
